About Bird Houses

Why Housing For Birds?

Birds Help Control Pest Insects
Regularly filled and maintained bird feeders attract many kinds of birds to your property, and comfortable nesting accommodations insure that they stay there and raise their young when spring arrives. Both the seedeaters and insect eaters collect enormous numbers of insects daily to feed their babies. Their activity significantly reduces the populations of pest insects in the area. If you provide these families shelter--either trees, shrubs or nesting shelves for the nest builders or houses for cavity dwellers--they will patrol the yard all season.

The Do-It Dozen

Yardener’s Helper features 12 insect-eating songbirds who play a major pest control role in the home landscape. This Do-It Dozen are commonly found in residential yards in most parts of the country. While they also eat fruits and seeds, they are efficient insect eaters during the growing season.
