Dasher Hybrids, Ruffles Hybrids, Cut and Come Again, and Giant Flowered types are all excellent.
‘Border Beauty’ is an All America Selections (AAS) winner, as is ‘Yellow Marvel’.
Zenith hybrids such as ‘Firecracker’, ‘Rosy Future’, ‘Torch’ and ‘Yellow Zenith’ are AAS winners.
Lilliput Series (Gem) have 2 inch dahlia type flowers in seven colors.
Zinnia angustifolia, a cousin of the common zinnia, is resistant to heat, humidity, drought and powdery mildew. It has narrow green foliage on pliable 14 inch stems, bears 2 inch flowers in white, orange or yellow and makes a nice groundcover.
The Pinwheel Series hybrids are medium height and mildew resistant.
‘Crystal White’ is a 1996 AAS winner. It and ‘Star White' have small white single flowers.
