Using Delphinium

Plant delphiniums in groups of 3 or 5. They work best when planted as background plants for other, shorter perennials. They are striking in combination with Canterbury bells, Madonna Lilies, and Sweet William.

Cutting/Displaying Delphinium Indoors: Because of their size, shape and special blue color, delphiniums make splendid cut flowers. Their heavy stalks work best in large, formal arrangement combined with many other kinds of flowers. Cut flowers for indoor display in the early morning, with a clean, sharp knife. Add 1/2 can of a citrus based soft drink (7 Up, Slice, etc.) per quart of water in the container to prolong freshness.
