Preparing To Plant

Part of planting correctly is selecting the proper location for the shrub. Whether you begin with the site and then buy a shrub to fit the conditions there, or you begin with a shrub that you like, the site must be appropriate for the particular shrub. Whether it is a flowering shrub such as an azalea or a conifer such as a juniper, each shrub has certain preferences for light, soil and moisture. In residential landscapes the most common planting error is that shrubs are set too close to buildings or to each other.
