Using and Planting

Using Catalpa Trees
Catalpa are used primarily as specimen trees in a spacious setting, though some communities have successfully used this tree as a street tree.

Planting Catalpa
Catalpas prefer deep moist, fertile soil, but they can handle either wet or dry, even alkaline, soil if they must. Site them in full sun and give them plenty of space. Because they drop their pods, it is best not to grow them near streets, walks and gutters.
