American Linden (Tilia Americana)Mature height 40 to 50’ with a spread 20 to 30’Zones 3 to 8, full sun or part shade, handles most any soil as long as is kept moist, can handle heavy clay, will develop girdling roots in compacted soil.
Littleleaf Linden (Tilia cordata)At 20 years height is 20’ and spread is 10’. Mature height 45 to 60’ with a spread 20 to 30’Zones 4 to 7A, full sun or part shade, handles most any soil as long as is kept moist, can handle heavy clay, will develop girdling roots in compacted soil.
Growth rate is medium at 10 to 12 inches per year
Silver Linden (Tilia tomentosa)At 20 years height is 25’ and spread is 15’. Mature height 45 to 60’ with a spread 25 to 45’Zones 4B to 8A, full sun or part shade, handles most any soil as long as is kept moist, can handle heavy clay, will develop girdling roots in compacted soil.
Growth rate medium at 10 to 14 inches per year.
