Problems of Osage Orange

Osage-Orange itself can be problem. It can become invasive in residential areas. Because of its extensive and tough root system, it can be difficult to control. Cutting down all trees and sprouts might have to be done two years in a row to be effective. Otherwise, the tree is very tough and has few problems. Occasionally it can be attacked by leafy mistletoe, verticilium wilt, some fungal diseases, stem borers, scale, and some rodents. Usually it lives a trouble free life in the home landscape.
