Repel With Water Spritzing Device

Water Spritzing Repeller For Opossums
SCARECROW is a motion-activated water sprinkling device that repels pest animals such as Opossums by startling them with an unexpected spritz of water. SCARECROW is highly effective, is environmentally friendly and very humane. It does not hurt the animal. The effect of the sudden noise, movement and spray of water is both startling and immediate – animals quickly flee the area and avoid returning in the future! It will not activate for song-birds.

Deprive It of Food

Keep garbage cans secure by placing a bunji cord, rubber, strap, or spring to hold on the cover.
Feed your pet indoors or remove its food after a reasonable peirod of time; don’t leave food outside all night.
If possums are stealing fruit, prune fruit trees so that side limbs do not touch the ground or buildings. Then wrap a 3 foot wide band of smooth sheet metal around the tree tunk starting at about2 feet from the ground.

Aggravate With Repellents

Opossum have very acute senses of smell, taste, and touch. Because they are scavengers they tend to seek out the garbage can area. It is there where repellents such as Garlic Barrier, Hot Pepperwax, Ropel and others can be used effectively to dissuade a wandering opossum from camping out for a few days.
ScareCrow is a watering device that turns on when motion is detected in a given area of the yard, drenching the source of the motion, in this case a opossum (Click here for information about this product).
Homes with either a cat or dog will generally have fewer opossum problems than those with no pets.

Trap to Kill It

Opossums are easy to catch in a box trap baited with sardines or fruit. Hav A Hart traps for raccoons may be used for opposum ( Click here for information about that trap). If you are trying to get a possum out of an enclosed space, overturn a 5 gallon bucket, or larger barrel, in its path. The possum will very likely crawl right in, thinking it is a safe burrow.
You can then shoot it, drown it, suffocate it with carbon monoxide or contact your local animal control department and request humane disposal. Do not transport it to a local woods or farm land; you simply relegate it and the possum already in that territory to only half as much food.
