Trap the Raccoon to Kill It
Raccoons are easy to catch with box traps, but do not try to relocate them to some park or country woods. ?HavAHart? traps are designed to catch the pest and then allow you to kill it humanely; either with a gun or by drowning. Bait the traps with meat scraps, fish, or moist dog food. Other baits include honey-soaked bread, pieces of fruit, marshmallows, and peanut butter.
If killing the beast is not something you want to do, that is okay. There are many homeowners in the suburbs just like you. The yellow pages contain a listing of Raccoon control people who specialize in trapping and removing animals people do not want in their yards. This service costs money just like you pay someone to inspect for termites.
