In recent years, a new mosquito control product has come on to the market that is fairly expensive but is very effective in clearing a yard of mosquitoes while doing no harm to any other creature insect or other.

These machines mimic a large mammal by emitting a plume of carbon dioxide (CO2), heat and moisture, which when combined with an additional attractant, octenol, is irresistible to female mosquitoes (the ones that bite),
no-see-ums, biting midges, black flies, and sandflies. They are powered by electricity and propane but there is no flame for the propane.
