Stress Encourages Pest Problems
Flea beetles really love to go after stressed plants. That is why newly planted seedlings are a common target, or seedlings that have not be kept watered and are gasping for some liquid refreshment. Any plant that is stressed and falls within the flea beetles’ diet is vulnerable to attack. If you have any plant that is hit be flea beetles two years in a row, then you can suspect there is some source of stress that is making that plant a regular target.

Other Conditions That Foster Flea Beetles
Flea beetles like warm dry weather. So if you are having a particularly warm and dry summer, then the flea beetle possibilities go up.
