Symptoms of Emerald Ash Borer

Symptoms of the Emerald Ash Borer
Unless you know exactly where to look and when to look, you are not likely to see the adult Emerald Ash borer at all. You will usually not notice any symptoms during the first year of the EAB attack. The following spring you will begin to see branches with no leaves, maybe as much as 20 to 30% of the top of the tree. By fall half the tree could be dead, especially in younger trees. Since there are no reliable treatments to save trees already infested, you are wise to remove the infested tree as soon as possible. Your local community will have rules about how the tree should be disposed of.
