Choosing Buffalograss

Buffalograss has been considered a desirable grass for the home landscape only very recently. A new cultivar of Buffalograss has been bred to present a dense, dark green appearance. The grass grows very slowly and needs little maintenance in terms of feeding or watering.

A native grass, buffalograss is now available in parts of the South as sod, but will soon be offered more broadly throughout the country since it appears to be able to withstand northern winters. It looks like a great candidate for problem areas such as side hills and areas outside fences and walls.
