Region 7. Grass Choices in the Cool Humid Pacific Northwest

While experts differ, most feel that an appropriate seed mixture of cool weather grasses for the Pacific Northwest should feature perennial ryegrass as its major component. Kentucky bluegrass and/or fine fescue would comprise a smaller proportion of seed in the mixture.

Another option for yardeners in the Northwest region is a mixture of fine fescue and colonial bentgrass recommended by some turfgrass professionals for a lower-maintenance lawn.
