Arborvitae Foliage Tips Are Turning White

Question From: Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
Q: Arborvitae has tips of foliage turning white and its not the "Sherwood FrostTip" variety as far as I know. This is the first year its showed this symptom and it is 20 yrs old. Is there a disease or insect problem associated with this condition? Thanks Don

A: I am not aware of one. However there are many new issues with conifers today. If it were my tree I would get an on-site inspection from a certified arborist. To find a professional in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code. Best Nancy
