Arborvitae Plants Damaged And Sparse After Snow

Question From: b. vogell - NEW YORK
Q: Because of heavy snows, my arborvitae plants have split in the middle and do not seem to have any leaves in the middle but do have them on the ends. Plants are very sparse. Can they be saved?

A:

Patience Barbara. These shrubs usually pick themselves up when the sun comes out. You can also help them along by with ropes. But do it slowly - a bit of a time so as not to crack the trunks. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
