Blue Spruce Tree Needles Being Eaten And Limbs Have White Crust On Them

Question From: Mundelein, Illinois, United States
Q: We have 4 Colorado blue spruce trees in our backyard. They around 12 years old. This year the needles have been eaten off by something, and some of the limbs on the trees have a white crust on them. What could it be, and what can we do to save the trees. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Linnea Rietow

A: Linnea, You may have a couple things going on with your Blue Spruce. Self medicating trees is not a good idea. I recommend you contact a tree doctor, a certified arborist to have an onsite inspection to see what must be done to save your trees. Do be sure to keep them watered. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
