Can Bleeding Hearts Be Grown In A Container

Question From: NORTH CAROLINA
Q: can you grow bleeding hearts in a container.... such as a 5 or 7 gallon container? I have a vole and maple tree roots to contend with. Thanks Jack Kennedy

A:

Jack, Almost anything you grow in the ground can be grown in a container. The problem is winter protection. Some folks take the plants out of the container and plant them in the garden for winter, being sure to mulch them well. Some store them in the garage or a shed. Happy Yardening, Nancy
