Clematis Vine Tips Are Curling Around Each Other And Forming A Knot And Leaves May Be Eaten Inside Knot

Question From: Saint Thomas, Ontario, Canada
Q: My clematis vine has something that is causing the growing tips to curl around each other forming a knot. It looks like something may have eaten a few leaves in this knot but I cannot find any insect. What should I do?

A: I know this sounds crazy, but try dipping the new growth tips in a cup of milk, or spray it on the plants. It can be regular. low fat or skim. Milk is toxic to soft bodied insects. Let me know if it helps. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
