Crepe Myrtle Tree Leaf Tips Have White Substance On Them

Question From: k. allen - Fremont, California, United States
Q: My crepe myrtle tree has a white substance on some of the leaf tips. It almost looks like a little flower blossom. Any idea what it could be?

A: If it were powdery, I'd say powdery mildew. It might be scale. I recommend you take a couple of the suspect leaves to a local garden center or nursery that sells crepes for a positive Id. If it seems to spread I would have it inspected by certified arborist. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
