Endless Summer Hydrangea Are Blooming Late In Season After Late Fall Pruning In Previous Year

Question From: Pickerington, Ohio, United States
Q: Hi Nancy, I don't know what kind of Hydrangea I have. I know only that it's "Endless Summer". I cut it down in late fall last year and this year it is huge, but the flowers are just coming out. It will not have time to really bloom before cold weather sets in. Could it be that it is not getting enough sun? Or maybe I should wait til early spring to cut it back? Thank you, Juanita Powell Pickerington, Ohio 43147

A: If you want early blooms leave it be or you will cut away it's ability to produce blooms early next spring. It does not require pruning to bloom. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
