Euonymus Shrubs Eaten By Rabbits

Question From: Harrison charter Township, Michigan, United States
Q: My eunoymous shrubs were completely eaten by rabbits over the winter. Will these shrubs regenerate? Do I need to do anything to encourage regrowth? Any ideas to discourage rabbits? i have put moth balls around the base.

A: Only time will tell. Do be sure to keep them watered. If they do come back fertilize them in late fall with a good organic fertilizer such as Holly Tone. I use a product called PlantSkydd, available at English Gardens and online at Amazon.com. Scatter the granules around the plants. It last for about 6 weeks. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
