How Long To Wait Before Planting After Using Vinegar To Kill Weeds

Question From: J. Hubbes - Orange City, Florida, United States
Q: I have a butterfly garden & raise monarch butterflies for release. Also other butterflies. Can't use any pesticides anywhere near the butterfly gardens. I want to use the vinegar mixture on the path and border plants to get rid of weeds. How long to wait to plant in the area?

A: Once you are sure the weeds have died, hose the area well and plant. Vinegar often kills only the surface green on perennial weeds, so they may resprout. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
