How To Protect A Small Bald Cypress Tree During Winter

Question From: R. MOORE - Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Q: I assume that bald cypress turns brown after the first deep freeze. Should I wrap the tree it is about five foot tall and seems so delicate I am afraid a snow could break off a limb.

Wrapping it in burlap will protect it from wind burn as well as ice and snow damage. Mulching the soil around the tree will help to hold moisture in the soil over the winter. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
