Question From: C. Schuld - Walled Lake, Michigan, United States
Q: How do I trim a Norfolk Pine? Originally a tiny Christmas decoration about 3 years ago. Now has 4 trunks and is about 3 feet tall. I keep repotting it and bringing it indoors for the winter and it keeps growing. I read your column a couple weeks ago and you said you trimmed a 16 footer. Do I top it? or take a certain amount off each branch?
A: Norfolk's don't take to pruning. Cut a branch in half and it will not put one growth. You can cut the tops to control the height and hopefully straight new leaders will develop. Best Nancy and Happy Yardeing.
