Hyacinths Are Horizontal And Not Vertical

Question From: P. Ruane - Berkeley, California, United States
Q: My hyacinths were upright in a container when I bought them 5 days ago from Trader Joe's. I watered once. Now they are nearly horizonal. What do I need to do? They seem alive (3 in container) and strong, just horizontal instead of vertical.

A: Cut them off at the base and put them in a vase filled with water.. Lack of sun and unseasonable heat (for them), have made the them stretch. They will not recover. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
