Impatiens Stems Are Starting To Spread Apart After Applying Wrong Fertilizer

Question From: Milford, Ohio, United States
Q: my impatients, all white by the way have been quite hardy and beautiful all season. i used bayer rose bush fertilizer with pest control by chance. when the stems start to spread apart (wide gap) when they were always tighter together, what can i do to revive them.

A: I can't answer that Jim. The product you used is not labeled for impatiens. The chemicals formulated for use on shrubs may have damaged the very tender impatiens. My best guess would be to water the soil thoroughly in hopes of washing the chemicals away. Then keep the plants watered so the soil is just moist, not sodden. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
