Marigolds Are Encased In White Web-Like Sac With Tiny White Spots

Question From: L. Windsor - Keller, Texas, United States
Q: What about Marigolds in an outside Pot. They have been completely encased in a white web-like sac with minute white spots on it ... too small to see with the naked eye (at least mine!) These webs are killing my marigolds.

Sounds like spider mites. Hose them off with a strong stream of water. They thrive when it is dry so spraying the foliage with water will help. A spray containing Spinosad can used. Read the label and follow the directions carefully. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
