Mountain Laurel Leaves Starting To Yellow And Fall Off

Question From: Wimberley, Texas, United States
Q: We planted a 15 gallon Mountain Laurel approximately three weeks ago. The leaves are starting to yellow and fall off. Is this a sign that I am over watering? If not, what are your suggestions?

A: Stick your finger into the root ball and see what the condition of soil is. If it is moist it's not been overwatered. If it is sodden that could be the problem. If it's dry you need to water more. Sometimes shrubs loose some leaves due to transplant shock. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
