Mountain Laurel Tree Has Long Tendrils With Fan Shaped End

Question From: N. Pohl - Austin, Texas, United States
Q: One of my 2 mountain laurels has long tendrils with a fan shaped end. It is not limb material or blooms. I was thinking of waiting until the bloom cycle is finished and then loping them off but they are ugly.Any thoughts or suggestions?

A: I believe your tree has a virus. I recommend you contact a certified arborist to find out how virulent it is. I always recommend having arborist treat valuable trees as they have products and tools not available to homeowners. The longer you wait to treat it the further the virus will spread.
