Organic Garden Treatment For Caterpillars

Question From: a. Spitzer - Manchester, New Hampshire, United States
Q: Can I use copper garden dust to rid my garden of little white moth caterpillars. They are eating my cole plants, broccoli rab, collards, brusselsprouts and cabbage. I have a complete organic garden and am very concerned about what I use.

A: There are all kinds of copper dust products on the market for use on vegetables that are generally considered safe and effective when used according to package directions. Here's a website that will give you more options: http://www.ohioearthfood.com/insect-disease-control.html. An OMRI designation indicates the product is certified for use on certified organic gardens. Lack of an OMRI list does not mean it should not used, however. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
