Should Landscape Fabric Or Plastic Be Used When Planting Shiny Leaf Pachysandra

Question From: Evans City, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: Can you put down landscaping fabric or plastic when planting shiny leaf pachysandra?

A: You can use landscape cloth, but I don't recommend it. Better to put down several layers of newspaper and 3 inches of pine bark or raw wood chips. Landscape cloth does not allow decomposed materials to filter into the soil and feed beneficial insects. It does break down after time and is a pain to remove. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
