Should Ostrich Ferns Be Cut Back In Winter

Question From: t. savage - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: Should ostrich ferns be cut back in the winter? Or would mounds of leaves suffice? Many thanks!. Philadelphia, PA

A: I choose to take Mother Nature's path and leave the fronds intact until early spring. They are covered with maple leaves. Ostrich ferns are tough cookies so either method will work. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
