Should Winter Burned Holly Leaves Be Removed

Question From: P. Karr - Plymouth, Michigan, United States
Q: My Holly shrubs have many burnt leaves from winter. Should I just take off the affected leaves or do I need to trim back the whole branch?

A: Be patient and let Mother Nature do her thing. The leaves usually fall and the plant regenerates new ones if the branches are not too badly damages. If they do not leaf out, that's the time to prune. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
