Spirea Leaves Are Droopy And Drying Up

Question From: Waukegan, Illinois, United States
Q: I live in Northern Illinois. I just planted spirea shrubs for the first time. I have them in a sunny spot. The soil is well drained. I put a layer of mulch around the bottom of the shrubs and I have been watering them frequently. They are not doing too well though. The have a droopy look to the leaves and the bottom leaves are drying up. What am I doing wrong. It has been about a month since I planted them.

A: You may be overwatering them. The soil should be kept moist not sodden. A moisture meter from Amazon.com or your local garden center or hardware store may be helpful. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
