Weeping Pussy Willow Has Lacey Leaves

Question From: London, Ohio, United States
Q: Hi. I just recently planted a weeping pussy willow. It seems to be doing fine except for a few lacey leaves I just started seeing. Something is chewing holes in them. What should I treat it with? Thank you!

A: I cannot recommend a pesticide without an accurate pest ID. Take a sample of the leaf damage to your local indendent nursery or garden center for an accurate ID and method of control. Where I live in Michigan Japanese Beetles feed on these trees making holes in the leaves. But you should be able to to see them as they are the size of a fat rice krispie and metalic bronze in color.
