Question From: J. Marzolino - Southgate, Michigan, United States
Q: I am new to gardening and I have some Lavender plants and have trimmed the long stems off but am wondering if I should have trimmed the plant to the ground and if so, is it too late to do so. I would appreciate hearing from you.
A: Lavender should not be trimmed until spring, just as green begins to show. You can hard prune them but not to the ground. It should look line a miniature shrub. Pruning in fall or winter is death to these plants. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
