Question From: J. Marzolino - Southgate, Michigan, United States
Q: I am new to gardening and I have some Lavender plants and have trimmed the long stems off but am wondering if I should have trimmed the plant to the ground and if so, is it too late to do so. I would appreciate hearing from you.
Lavender should not be trimmed until spring, just as green begins to show. You can hard prune them but not to the ground. It should look line a miniature shrub. Pruning in fall or winter is death to these plants. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
