When Can Lower Branches From Mature Sycamore Tree Be Safely Removed

Question From: Belleville, Wisconsin, United States
Q: We live in south central Wisconsin (just south of Madison). Will it harm our well-established sycamore to remove lower branches from the tree in July-August, even if late winter to early spring may be preferable for pruning?

A: Limbing up is done year around on established trees - exceptions are Oaks. I would be sure to water it in hot dry weather. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
