Will Clematis Reseed Cross Pollinate Or Spread Unwantedly

Question From: CONNECTICUT
Q: I planted about 8 cleomes that came in big pots...They are light pink and wispy and beautiful. My questions is will I have seedlings coming up all over in the Spring? Although I do want cleomes in my garden next year, I do not want them coming up everywhere. Right now they are at the back of the garden area(for the height) and that is where I would want to have them next year as well. Also will this light pink color come back next year?

A:

Clematis do not reseed, so that should not be a problem. And they are not grafted and do not cross pollinate so the colors should stay true. Make sure you mulch around them and keep the soil moist till it freezes. Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy
