Ajuga Leaves Are Being Eaten To Stems

Question From: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States
Q: I have a large bed of Ajuga which has a patch where the leaves seem to be eaten leaving only the stems. Is this due to insect infestation or another form of disease?

A: Sounds like you may have slugs. Check with a flashlight at night. A product containing iron phosphate, sprinkled on the ground starting in spring will take care of them. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
