Arborvitaes Have Turned Tan In Color

Question From: Manitowoc, Wisconsin, United States
Q: Nancy, I have 3 6 foot aboritvaes (cedars) that are turned tan in color. I dug into the ground and it seems quite moist cuz they stand at the base of a mound septic system. If I trim them back is there a possibly of new growth. Please advise. Thank You

A: I can't speak to your issues but I will tell you that if you prune the branches back to the point there is no longer green growth they will not regenerate. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
