Coreopsis Has Beige Grey Spots And Holes On Lower Leaves

Question From: R. Wiesboeck - Stone Mountain, Georgia, United States
Q: I bought Jethro Tull Coreopsis a week ago. Initially one third of them had some leaf damage, mostly on the lower leafs. I can't see any bugs. There are beigey to grey spots and some progressed to holes. I sprayed them with a neem oil preparation. Too early to tell whether it worked. Since I have plenty of Mancocep, I wonder whether I should try that, Your help is greatly appreciated.

A: I don't know what Mancocep is. It is never wise to use products just because you have them. Damage sounds like a 4 lined bug. The neem should take care of them. In any case they will be gone in a couple of weeks. I would take a sample in to my local garden center of a positive Id. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
