Crepe Myrtle Leaves Are Turning Orange-Red

Question From: m. sims - Tifton, Georgia, United States
Q: Nancy, thank you so much. My natchez crape myrtles are 2 months old and began growing leaves fantastic, yet at 2 months all of the leaves are turning orange/red and I'm sure they will soon fall off. No spots, no layer of anything on leaves, just red. (not black, not brown, not yellow) Please help !! What do I do ?

A:
I believe your crepe myrtles have a fungus called cerospor as leaf spot. Take samples of the infected leaves to your independent garden center or nursery for a more accurate ID and method of control. Best Nancy and Happy Yardening
