English Ivy Is Almost All Brown

Question From: Homestead, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: What can be done with a bed of English ivy which is 95% brown?

A: If you look closely you should be seeing some green leaves and shoots emerging. Scrape the vines with your finger nail and see if there is green under the bark. It won't hurt to mow the dead leaves. Cut away the dead vines and begin again. I would fertilize the live stuff with Espoma Plant Tone. Don't overdo. This winter was brutal on evergreen plants.
