Honeysuckle In Redwood Container Losing Lower Leaves

Question From: D. Pereira - ARIZONA
Q: honeysuckle in a redwood container (12x12x16) has fully filled out for 3 years but hardly 3 or 4 blossoms a year. I read it needed a shot of fertilizer (bone meal 0-10-0) now there appears to be 100s of blossoms, but all the lower leaves appear to be falling off?

A: The lower leaves may just be aging, It probably also needs to be repotted. You may wish to wait till fall. Take it out of the pot and cut away an inch or so of the outer portion of the roots and repot. Be sure to keep it watered. Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy.
