Iris Not Blooming Can They Be Replanted

Question From: Livonia, Michigan, United States
Q: My Iris are not blooming as I only had one (1) Bloom so far this year at this time. I have not divide them yet! Can I do this now and relocated to a warmer spot where they will get more sun with a West facing location near our house? They are German Bearded Iris and produce beautiful blooms I just want more of them! Thanks, Paul V. Dodge

A: You may replant the now. Cut the foilage back into a fan shape. The tubers should be half exposed. Plant them too deep and they will not bloom next year. I'd mix a good compost into the soil. Fertilizing is not necessary, but do keep them watered. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
