Rosemary Brought Into Greenhouse For Winter Turns Brown And Dies

Question From: Pigeon, Michigan, United States
Q: ...I love the herb Rosemarie. I plant some small pots from a nursery or Walmart in a larger pot in the spring/summer but every time I transfer the plants inside in the fall the foliage gets blown and dies off. I keep the pots in a heated greenhouse during the cold month. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks for your help.

A: Your greenhouse may be too warm. 55 degrees is good. Also, the soil must not be allowed to dry out. Keep it moderately moist at all times. They should be planted in lean fast draining soil. Miracle Go is a no no. Do not fertilize them. A little fish and kelp fertilizer in spring is all they need. Good Luck Nancy
