What Part Of Dill Should Be Used For Cooking

Question From: C. Tiley - Fort Collins, Colorado, United States
Q: Nancy, I am making or attempting to make Dill Soup an old Bohemian recipe that my mother used to make. It calls for 1/2 cup of fresh dill. I went to the grocery store and bought 3 or packs of beautiful fresh dill. I am making this for my son's birthday tonight. Do I just snip off the short stems with the leaves on them and discard the thicker big stem? And can I also chop the small short stem with the leaves also or cut them off also? Thank you so for your answer.

A: Use the fern-like leaves. The stems may not break down and will give an unpleasant texture. Best Nancy
