When To Transplant Daffodils And Tulips

Question From: w. drake - NORTH CAROLINA
Q: I have daffodils and tulips in a planter on my deck that have bloomed and I would like to move them to my yard before the foliage dies..Can I do this without hurting the bulb?

A:

Wilma, You can transplant them now, just try to take as much of the root structure as you can. Tulips do not over winter well for us in Michigan, but daffs are hardy as horses. The daffs should be fine - the tulips, depends on the variety and other factors. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
