Why Do Carrots Grow Short And Fat Instead Of Long

Question From: Rice, Washington, United States
Q: Do you know why so many of my carrots turned out to be more like small beats instead of long like they were supposed to have been? Thank you, Marcia

A: Dense soil is usually the issue. Try a raised bed and you will have better luck. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy

Comment: I do have my carrots and other vegies planted in a raised bed. I used a carrot seed packet that didn't describe what kind of carrots were in it and I think maybe they were a mix of those small carrots and regular carrots. That's my guess. Thanks, Marcia
